There are about 32 million Americans who suffer from food allergies. 6 million of those are children.
Eight major food allergens also known as the “Top 8” are responsible for most of the serious food allergy reactions in the United States. The “Top 8” are categorized as: milk, egg, peanut, tree nuts, wheat, soy, fish/shellfish, & sesame.

Every three minutes, a food allergy reaction sends someone to the emergency room. Children with food allergies are two to four times likely to have other allergic conditions, such as asthma or eczema.
About 30 percent of children with food allergies are allergic to more than one food.
The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention reports that the prevalence of food allergy in children increased by 50 percent between 1997 and 2011.
200,000 people are treated in the emergency room due to allergic reactions to food.
